How to find, track and lock our lost android smartphone.

Anyone can lose their favorite smartphone. The causes also vary, they can forget to put where it is or it may even be stolen by someone. Maybe you who experience it, of course, will panic and worry. 


Moreover, smartphones now store a lot of important applications and data. And our smartphone could be found by someone who is not responsible. Maybe you think, that all the applications and data on your smartphone have been deleted by the person who found it.

Because of these many incidents, Google as the maker of the Android operating system provides a Find My Device tool that can help you find your phone, as well as lock and delete the data on it if the device is not found.

Conditions for tracking a lost Android phone In order to take advantage of the Find My Device tool, certain conditions are usually met, unless the user is never signed in to a Google account or the device is intentionally turned off. 

  • First, the phone must be in Active condition and connected (Log In) to your Google account. 
  • The phone must always be connected to the internet network (Cellular Data/WiFi) The "Location" service and the "Find My Device" mode should also be active.   • On the right side, a map will appear showing information about the whereabouts of your phone. 
  • For a green phone-shaped icon, indicating where your device has been detected successfully. 

  • However, if your phone is not detected on the map, then you will only see the location where it was last accessed.

of the device name, there are several options for you to choose from, such as "Play Sound", "Secure Device", or "Erase Device".


  • Play Sound This option allows you to track the whereabouts of the device via phone sound notifications. If you select the "Play Sound" option, your lost phone will sound like an alarm at high volume for 5 minutes. 


  • Secure Device: To lock your lost phone from being tampered with, you can tap the Secure Device option. With this option, you can apply a PIN, pattern or password remotely. This is also useful if you want to help someone who got your phone to return it. In addition, you can also add a message or phone number which will later appear on the lock screen. 
  • Erase Device: You can select this option to permanently erase all data on your phone (it is not possible to delete data on SD card). After you delete all the data, the "Find My Device" mode will turn off automatically. 


Generally, the various benefits provided are that all data will be deleted and cannot be seen for others, and your cellphone will remain locked even if an irresponsible person is found. Meanwhile, your personal information such as email and passwords for Google or any social media will remain protected because a lost cellphone can only be opened by yourself. Keep in mind, if you have permanently deleted its data and then managed to find the phone, then you will have to apply a new password to be able to use your Google account as before.
